Identification qualifier  
Field notes Terrestrial herb to 40 cm. Root tubers 2 x 1.5 cm, yellowish brown, 5 cm along root from base. Leafy shoot with 2-4(-5) leaves. Basal sheath and petiole pale green. Lamina to 32 x 16 cm, plicate, plain green, pale below, base truncate to cordate. Inflorescence compact, many-flowered (>40), terminal in the centre of the leaves, sterile bract ± leaf-like, fertile bracts membranous, transparent with purple apex, aging brown. Oldest flower at apex. Flower white, lobes all cream-white, staminode sometimes purple in lower third. Staminode erect. Labellum white, central pale yellow bar at front. Base of throat dark purple. Deposited at: AAU, BKF, E, PSU (including material in spirit).
