| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to c. 5 m. Rhizome long-creeping. Leafy shoot with 18-30 shoots. Base of shoot to c. 9 cm across. Sheath greenish. Ligule 1-2 cm, golden pubescent. Petiole 1.5-2 cm, canaliculate. Lamina to 120 x 20 cm. Old infructescence emptied by rodents. Peduncle to 6 cm. Fruit 3.5 x 3.5 cm, obpyriform, with distinct lateral, papillose ridges.
