| Field notes | Terrestial herb, 2-3 m, rhizome long-creeping, scales brown and thin. Base 5 cm diam. Sheath grey-green with darker green patches (like on Etlingera brevilabris leaves). Ligule 1.5 cm. Petiole 1.5 cm. Lamina to 60 by 15 cm, dark green, finely ridged, base +/- auriculate. Inflorescence from base, sterile bracts dark purple, upper red. Flowers pink. Margin of labellum inrolled, crimped; narrow yellow line in venter of labellum. Stamen hinged, dark pink. Stigma pink. Material also preserved in spirit. |
