Field notes Terrestrial herb, 2 m, rhizome long-creeping. Sheath green, ligule 2-3 cm, green. Inflorescence to 14 cm long, from base of shoot, bracts white - upper with red margins. Flower pink, lip with central yellow band and margin of lateral lobes white, crimped (irregularly plicate). Stamen hinged, pinkish red. Stigma pale pink. Taste is fresh slightly bitter.
