| Field notes | Terrestial herb, 2-2.5 m, in clump. Leaves distichous. Petiole to 1.8 m. Pulvinus to 16 mm. Lamina to 90 by 38 cm, plicate. Distance to node 80-160 cm. Distance from node to pulvinus to 70 cm. Leaf above inflorescence: pulvinua 9-11 mm. Lamina to 66 by 28 cm. Outer floral lobes purple-brown; inner white. Fruit red, aril white, seed black. Vernacular name (Sunda language): patat. Used for wrapping rice (nasi bunkus). Material also preserved in spirit. Photographed. |
