Field notes Terrestrial herb to 2.5 m. Rhizome long-creeping, thin (1 cm). Base greenish. Young leaves with purple patches. Inflorescence from rhizome, sometimes far from base (50 cm), with 1–6 flowers, bract cream, calyx and petals red, labellum pink, pale pink in center, stamen red, stigma white. Vernacular name: topus apentimang (Passir language), used to chase insects out of rice field.
