| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to 2.5 m. Rhizome short-creeping: 15 cm between shoots. Shoot with 18-28 leaves. Sheaths brownish green, ligule brownish,<1 cm, lamina slightly plicate, to 43 by 8.5 cm, pale below. Inflorescence from base, peduncle <2 cm, bracts green, margin red, petal tips red, labellum pink with central white, lateral margin white. Anther and stigma dark red. Fruit whitish. Taste fresh, cabbage-like. Vernacular name: topus (Passir language). |
