| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to 4 m, in loose clump. Rhizome stout - to 4 cm diam. Base red, to 7 cm. Slightly stilted, stilts red-brown. Sheath reticulate, red at base; green with purple flecks at the upper part of shoot. Leafless fro 2 m or more. Ligule 2 cm, purplish with a fimbriate margin. Petiole to 2 cm. Lamina to 80 by 21 cm, broadest below the middle; pubescent below, base ±unequal, ±auriculate. Infructescence, stout, erect to 50 cm, Fruit head 9 by 11 cm, bracts persistant; all parts purple-red. Vernacular name: tubu labo (Lun Dayeh). Material in spirit. |
