| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to 5 m, rhizome long-creeping, base 7 cm diam. Sheath roughly reticulate, plain to yellow-green. Ligule green, pubescent. Petiole 1–3 cm lamina pubescent below. Inflorescence from rhizome, bracts red, with ca. 24 flowers. Flowers all red. Smell distinctly soapy. Infructescence 3–7 cm. Material in spirit. |
