| Field notes | Terrestrial herb less than 15 cm, roots with long tubers. One leaf per shoot, lower sheaths leafless, cream tinged purple; petiole canaliculate; lamina ovate to 20 by 11 cm, fleshy dark green ±variegated yellow-green. Inflorescence from lower sheath; flowers white with central yellow on labellum; fruit purple. Vernacular name: tubu laap (Kelabit): leaves heated over fire used as bandage applied for muscular pain. Deposited at: Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, SAR, AAU. Material also preserved in spirit. Photographed. |
