| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to 2.5 m. Rhizome long-creeping. Base to 4 cm diam., sheath reddish brown; ligule greenish or reddish brown; petiole 1–2 cm; base ±unequal, lamina plain green (no veins visible), velvety pubescent below – especially when young. Inflorescence from rhizome, with less than 20 flowers. Peduncle 8–20 cm, inflorescence head 4.5 by 2.5 cm, bracts dark red to almost black at top. Corolla pale red, labellum pink to dark in center, lateral lobes white, anther pale red, stigma red. Material in spirit. |
