| Field notes | Terrestrial herb, 2–2.5 m, rhizome long-creeping. Base swollen 4 cm, Shoot leafless 80 cm, with 18 leaves. Sheath green, reticulate at base. Ligule green, 1 cm. Leaf base cuneate. Inflorescence from rhizome, 25 cm from base, 1–2 flowers, red. Of 5 inflorescences examined four had staminate flowers. Taste fresh, pine-like. Material in spirit. |
