| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to 2 m. Rhizome long-creeping: shoots up to 1 m apart. Lower base red. Shoot leafless in lower 2/3. Sheath green with conspicuous wax, 14 leaves per shoot. Lamina green with red, cloudy patches. Inflorescence 20 cm from base, scales brown, bracts subterranean, white, to 3 flowers per inflorescence, all red except for white stigma. Vernacular name (Iban language): ketimbang bukit. Material in spirit. |
