| Field notes | "Terrestrial herb 2 m. Rhizome creeping, up to 30 cm between shoots. Base 3 cm. Leafy shoot with 13 leaves per shoot, leafless 1.3 m. Sheath green, waxy with pale green reticulation. Ligule brownish green; lamina dark green (purple-brown when young), below pale green. Inflorescence from base (only young), basal scales white (red where exposed). Flowers not seen but dissected buds indicate generally red flowers. Taste sour, slightly soapy, smell like green beans. Also seen at 750 m. Deposited at: Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, SAR, AAU. Material also preserved in spirit. cf." |
