| Field notes | "Terrestrial herb 2 m. Rhizome long-creeping. Base and lower half of sheath red. Ligule reddish brown. Lamina plain green, below pubescent. Inflorescence 25 cm, bracts reddish to dark purple at apex. Fertile bracts short, red, membranous. Calyx red, labellum bright red, central lobe emarginate, dark purple in front of stigma, pale red at apex; lateral lobes dark red with white narrow margin. Anther dark purple, stigma very dark purple, almost black. Fruit red. Plant smells and tastes like pine. Deposited at: Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, SAR, AAU. Material also preserved in spirit. Photographed. " |
