Field notes "Terrestrial herb 2-3 m, rhizome long-creeping, ±stiltrooted. 18-20 leaves per shoot. Base and young shoot pale red., 5-8 cm. Sheath pubescent, green; ligule green. Lower leaves broadly elliptic, upper more narrow lanceolate to obovate, somewhat plicate, pubescent below, to 70 cm by 20 cm. Inflorescence erect, peduncle to 50 cm, axis pale green, peduncular bracts reddish to dark purple at tip, bracts in infl. dark purple but densely pubescent giving a yellowish-white appearance. Calyx pale red, petals short, labellum pale pink with whiteand narrow lateral margin and dark red patch in front of stigma. Anther and stigma pale red. Fruit pale red. Deposited at: Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, SAR, AAU, L. Material also preserved in spirit. Photographed. "
