| Field notes | Terrestrial herb 4 m, rhizome long-creeping. Base and sheath plain green. 22-24 leaves per shoot. Leafless 1.2 m. Petiole c. 2 cm, base unequal, margin undulating. Inflorescence from rhizome. Bracts dark purple, below ground, pale purple towards top. Fertile bracts membranous, pale brown. 3-7 flowers open at a time, 30-32 fls per infl. Base of bracteole and calyx pale rose, petals pink. Labellum pale pink with fringy, inrolled margin, white line seen from outside stopping at end of lateral lobes. Lateral lobes pink with pale edges, margin inrolled. Anther almost sessile dark red, stigma pink. Infructescence globular, 6-9 cm, red. Vernacular name (Kelabit): tubu bua saleh.
