| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to 7.5 m. Rhizome massive (3-4 cm), long-creeping. Base 10 cm diam, reddish. 30 leaves per shoot. Sheath pale green, young leaves red. Lamina 100 by 20 cm. Inflorescence basal, bracts brown. Flowers all yellow except purple line at tip of anther and red stigma. Fruit reddish purple, 10 cm diam. Vernacular name (Lun Bawan): tubu ligan . Informed by Labo Balang Gukang, 8 Nov 2002 before drying the specimen. Deposited at: Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, SAR, AAU. Material also preserved in spirit. Photographed. aff.! |
