| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to 2 m. Raised on stilts 40-50 cm above ground, stilts 1-1.5 cm diam. Rhizome 2.5 cm, 25 cm between shoots. 12-16 leaves per shoot. Stem greenish, ligule membranous, dehiscent, lamina thick, dull, plain green, pale below. Inflorescence or infructescence from near base. Bracts of young infl. orange to reddish brown. Infrct. 10 cm diam, pink, calyx persistent. Fruits opened by rodents. Vernacular name (Lun Bawan): tubu krinang . Informed by Labo Balang Gukang, 8 Nov 2002 before drying the specimen.
