| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to 4 m. Rhizome short-creeping, c. 20 cm between shoots. Stilt-rooted 10 cm. Base brown, swollen 4 cm. Sheath green, ligule green up to 2 cm long. Lamina plain green, pale below. Infructescence erect, peduncle to 40 cm, bracts brown (dead), fruit flattend, purple, seeds black with arillus.
