| Field notes | "Terrestrial to 3 m, rhizome long-creeping, c. 1.2 cm. Base swollen 4-5 cm, red. Shoot leafless 1.2 m, leaves gradually increasing in size, 16-18 lvs. per shoot. Sheath glabrous but speckled dark green-whitish (like Hornstedtia). Ligule green, 1.5 cm. Petiole 2-2.5 cm, lamina dark green, pale below, all glabrous, base ±unequal, cuneate to auriculate, margin undulating. Inflorescence from rhizome, 32 fls. per infl. Bracts dark purple to black; inner fertile bracts pale pink, membranous. Petals pink, labellum pink with fringy pale pink margin and white central line (seen from outside). Anther sessile, pink stigma pink. Smell of pineapple and pine. Vernacular name (Lun Bawan): tubu ligan. Informed by Labo Balang Gukang, 8 Nov 2002 before drying the specimen.
