| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to 3.5 m, 20 leaves per shoot. Base reticulate, 5-6 cm diam. Sheath greenish brown, reticulate especially at base of petiole. Lamina dull dark green, slightly plicate, purple below. Ligule membranous, dehiscent. Inflorescence near base, subterranean, bracts white with red margin, in flowering inflorescence becoming dark brown (dead). Bracteole and base of corolla pale red. Petal lobes dark purple almost black. Labellum yellow with red apex and lateral lobes with red margin. Stamen and stigma pale red. Deposited at: Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, SAR, AAU. Material also preserved in spirit. Photographed. |
