| Field notes | "Terrestrial herb to 2.5 m. Rhizome long-creeping, less than 1 cm diam. Base pale brown, swollen 3.5 cm. Shoot leafless 1.5 m, sheath glabrous yellowish or browninsh green; ligule 5 mm, with purple dots particularly near apex; lamina sessile, dark green with pale midrib. Inflorescence from rhizome far from base. 28 flowers per infl. Peduncle 6-7 cm, slender with pale scales. Bracts purple-brown. Petal lobes red. Labellum red with inrolled margin, central yellow bar extending 8 mm further than stigma and terminating 15 mm from apex of central lobe. This bar appears orange on the outside. Stamens sessile, white to pale pink. Stigma red. Plant smells of tuhau (E. punicea). Vernacular name (Lun Bawan): tubu kelit . Informed by Labo Balang Gukang, 8 Nov 2002 before drying the specimen.
