Field notes "Terrestrial herb, 2-2.5 m. Rhizome long-creeping, up to 1 cm diam, scales brown. Base swollen 3.5 cm, brown. Sheath greenish-brown, 16-40 leaves per shoot, first leaf at ca. 80 cm, small, progressively larger above. Lamina narrow, plain green, below pale. Peduncle 6.5 cm. Inflorescence few-flowered (6 in two infl.); bracts white with curry-brown or reddish tips; flowers reddish: calyx pale red, petals bright red, labellum elongate pure red (no yellow!) anther sessile, pale red, stigma white.
