| Field notes | "Terrestrial herb, 3-4 m, rhizome long-creeping (meters between shoots). Base 5 cm diam, reddish. Sheath yellowish (olive) - green, reticulate-pubescent; petiole 1-1.5-3 cm, base unequal; lamina dark green, below pale, pubescent; young leaf reddish-brown. Inflorescence 20 cm below ground. Flowers red, labellum with whitish 'keel', deeply bifid apex, Stem and stigma red. 16 flowers per inflorescence. Vernacular name in Kelabit: tubu tana (this name also given to two other species. Informant: Bala Palaba, 20 Apr, (at bank above alluvial flat at Sg. Debpur, near Pa Umor (3 degrees44.226N; 115degr.31.019E) where inflorescences were found abundantly). cf. nasuta Deposited at: Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, SAR, AAU." |
