| Field notes | "Terrestrial herb to 3 m. Rhizome 2-3 cm, raised > 50 cm above ground on greyish green stilt roots. 20-40 cm between shoots. Scales brown but base whitish (filted) ±reticulate. Base swollen, 3-6 cm, sheath ±reticulate. Ligule membranous., ?3 cm, dehiscent; lamina sessile, plastic-like, velvety-dull, plain green, pale dull below, up to 74 cm by 14 cm, margin brown, base cuneate. Inflorescence arising from rhizome, up to 25 cm, peduncle ca 10 cm. Bracts reddish, reticulate (most prominently when young), ca. 24 flowers/infl., up to 13 open at a time. Fertile bracts & bracteole membranous, pale pink. Calyx pale pink to pink at c. 10 mm 3-filiforme apices. Petals almost black at margin. Labellum orange-red, tip slightly 2-4 lobed, no yellow line!, yellow margin at lateral lobe expansion. Vernacular name in Kelabit: tubu saleh. Informant: Maran Guna.
