| Field notes | "Terrestrial herb 1-2 m. Rhizome long-creeping. Sheath green with small (mm), velvety patches particularly near the base. Some reddish-brown near base of shoot and base of petiole. Ligule green, soon drying brown; lamina plain green, sometimes brownish tinge below. Inflorescence far from base containing 1-2 flowers only. Bracts subterranean, whitish or , if above ground, green. apex red. Flowers red. Stamen pink, stigma white. Inflorescences either bisexual (1) or staminate (3). Vernacular name in Lundayeh: Tubu bigan. Informant: Padan Sudai, headman of L. Mio.
