| Field notes | "Terrestrial herb, ca. 2 m, ±stilt-rooted. 20-80 cm between shoots. Sheaths green, ±purplish towards apex, ligule persistent, ca. 2 cm purplish at top of the shoot. Inflorescence from base, erect, less than 20 cm. Peduncle 15 cm. Bracts brown turning green at tip of upper bracts. Flowers red. More than 50 per inflorescence. Fertile bracts membranous, pale pink; labellum reddish-pink with central yellow line to 1.3 cm from tip. Margin of lateral lobes fringy. Stamen pale red, style red.
