Field notes Terrestrial herb to 2 m. 15 cm between shoots. Rhizome raised ca. 10 cm above ground on stilt roots. Sheath green, reticulate, ligule membranous, brown, dehiscent. Lamina thick-textured, glabrous, 'velvety'-dull-plain green, rifled length-wise, purplish-brown below, margin reddish-brown. Inflorescence near base, 16 fls in the single inflorescence found, peduncle ca. 7 cm, bracts brown. Flowers red, labellum red, elongated, slightly bifid with a central yellow bifid bar. Stamen and stigma red. Taste faint, of potato and pine. Deposited at: SAN, KEP, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, AAU.
