| Field notes | "Terrestrial herb to 4 m, in clump. 14 leafy shoots. Leafless 90 cm, progressively larger. Ca. 60 leaves per shoot. Lamina dark green. Peduncle 20 cm; bracts brown, short-lasting. Flowers white with central yellow; fruits red, spiny. Flowers can be found in infructescences. Vernacular name in Lundayeh: bua beritam mesia (Selutan Sakai, 20 Mar).
