| Field notes | Terrestrial herb 3-5 m. Rhizome short-creeping. Stem yellow-green with purple blotches. Lamina plain green with midrib groove yellowish white; below pale green. Inflorescence up to 90 cm erect. Bracts purple with white reticulate pattern. Flowers protruding at the top, contains mucus. Vernacular name in Dusun language: tolidus.
