| Field notes | Terrestrial herb 2-3 m. Rhizome long-creeping. Stem green to brown to reddish at the top, ± pubescent, 1.5 m leafless, 22 lvs per shoot. Ligule pubescent, brown. Lamina dark green, below pubescent and brownish-red when young. Peduncle 7-15 cm (later not typical but going through thich soil layer). Bracts dark purple, pubescent towrds the apex. Labellum c. 3 cm (from anther), spatulate, pink, 16 mm across, darker towards the base, lateral sides white. Antehr and stigma red. Fruit angular, glabrous, red. Only 2-3 developed.vel metriochilos.
