Field notes Terrestrial herb, shoot 1.5-2.3 m. Rhizome long-creeping, 20-40 cm between shoots, scales on rhizome pale brown. Base of shoot 3.5 cm in dia., stem max 1.5 cm, stem green, pubescent with purple-black blotches, particularly near ligule at upper part of stem, leafless for 50 cm. Ligule uneven to slightly bilobed, pubescent with copper-cloured hairs at margin, leaves increasing gradually in size from the lowest, 10-24 leaves per shoot. Lamina dark to plain green with yellow-green midrib groove above, below pubescent. Inflorescence (only one seen) near base of leafy shoot (but the shoot already rotten away), peduncle 1.5 cm, bracts clearly distichous, brown-red. Fertle bracts pink, membraneous. Bracteoles forom white at base to pinkish. Calys likewise. Petals dark pink at tip. Labellum red with yellow line almost hidden by inrolled lateral lobes and a diffuse end of the line well below the apex. Specimen at: SAN, KEP, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, AAU.
