| Field notes | Terrestrial herb 2.5-3 m high. Rhizome long-creeping. Base of leafy shoot 3.5 cm in dia. leafless 1.3 m, sheath green-red (at top), pubescent, petiole c. 2 cm; lamina dark green, pub below, young leaf brownish-red. Inflorescence from rhizome 5 cm from base. Labellum spatulate, pink, lateral lobes narrow and white, two dark purple-blackish red lines centrally, anther and stigma red."vel metriochilos.
