Field notes Terrestrial herb, to 3.5 m, in clump, stilt rooted c. 7 cm. Base of leafy shoot reddish-brown, 4-5 cm in diam, lower 2 m leafless. Sheath yellowish, glabrous, margins purple; ligule 2 cm with purple margin; lamina dark green with yellowish lines along midrib, pale green below. Peduncle adscending from base up to 20 cm. Sterile bracts: brown at base; at middle with red base to orange-brown at the tip. Fertile bracts pale yellowish green with a yellow-brown margin 3-5 mm; two flowers per bract. Flowers cream-white with orange-yellow patch in labellum. Calyces remaining after flowering. Material in alcohol. Specimen at: SAN, KEP, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, AAU.
