| Field notes | Terrestrial herb less than 0.7 m; rhizome trailing 9 cm between shoots. Sheaths green, pubescent. Young shoot reddish brown. Ligule brown to reddish-brown. Lamina yellow-green or plain green, somewhat bullate, yellow-green along midrib. Lower surface pale green with purplish tinge. Inflorescence 5 cm up the stem. Bracts dark brown; buds red.
