Field notes Solitary, small tree which is part of the undergrowth; trunc 4 m high, straight, unarmed; internodes 10 cm wide, green; leaf scars clearly visible, brown, few mm wide; crown with 8 expanded leaves and 1 emerging; crownshaft 20 cm long, pale green with brown scales; petiole 3 cm, adaxially flat, abaxially round; rachis 50 - 60 cm long, adaxially flat to channeled, abaxially round; leaves pinnate, reduplicate, 10 - 15 pinnae on each side of rachis, arranged in groups of 3 - 4 pinnae, groups 5 -10 cm apart, central pinnae 20 - 30 cm long; inflorescence infrafoliar, pendulous, green, branched to 3rd order, 5 1st order bracnhes which are ca. 30 cm long, flower buds green, 1 -2 mm; fruits green to red, 1.0 cm long, 0.5 cm wide, the inside consists of an outer yellow layer and an inner colourless core; prophyl 30 cm long, brown.
