Field notes Clustering palm with one mature individual and two stemless plants. Stem ca. 8 m high, white. Nodal scars obscure. Internodes ca. 10 cm at breast height. Cbh 37 cm. Crown with 10 leaves. Leaves pinnate. Crown shaf half open, 70 cm long and 35 cm wide. Petiole length15 cm. Rachis 290 cm long. 70 reduplicate pinnae on each side of rachis. Median pinnae 80 cm long and 7 cm wide. In groups of 2-4 pinnae pointing into different planes. One infrafoliar inflorescence bud. Two infructescences plus one wilted. Prophyl and peduncular bracts abscising. Peduncular bract woody, 40 cm long, 12 cm wide, with pointed tip and edge ridges. Prophyl woody, 81 cm long, 16 cm wide, pointed 16 cm long tip. Infructescence yellow-red. Peduncle flat, 7 cm long. Rachis pointed, 8 cm long. About 60 1st order branches. Solely on abaxial side of rachis, pendulous, forming a "horse tail". Branches ca. 60 cm long. Nearly all fruits aborted. Few immature green fruits ca. 1 cm long, round.
