Field notes Subcanopy palm. Stem unarmed. Cbh 18 cm. Clearly visible, whitish leaf scars. Internodes 14 cm. Short (<1m) stilt roots. 5 leaves plus 1 emerging in crown. Pinnate. Closed crownshaft, of a light green colour. Petiole 50 cm long. Rachis 170 cm. Pinnae reduplicate, regularly distributed along rachis. 26 on each side. Central pinnae 58 cm long, 8 cm wide. More than one infructescence pr. node, immature fruits green, mature fruits red. Thin layer of orange fruit pulp. Seed coat brown, with nervation. Endosperm hard, white. Vernacular name: Yumis (Shuar) No uses known.
