Field notes Understory palmlet. Stem 1.6 m high. Dbh 1.6 cm. With short (up to 15 cm long) emerging roots on basal 1 m. 6 leaves in crown. Pinnate. Closed crown shaft, 16 cm long. Petiole18 cm. Rachis 16 cm. Pinnae broad, irregularly distributed, 3-4 on each side of rachis. 20 cm long, up to 16 cm wide. Inflorescence bud interfoliar, later inflorescence infrafoliar. Prophyl of about same length as peduncle. Peduncle 33 cm long. 15 1st order branches, 20 cm long, green. Vernacular name: Yunkupi (Shuar). No uses known.
