Field notes Solitary small palmlet, part of undergrowth; stem 1 m high, straight, unarmed; diameter 0.8 cm; internodes 2 cm wide, green, leaf scars distinct, few mm thick; crown with 7 expanded leaves and 1 emerging leaf as well as 3 inflorescences and 2 emerging inflorescences; leaf sheath yellow-green with scattered reddish brown scales, in young leaves with reddish edges, 7 - 8 cm long, closed in the basal 2 - 3 cm; petiole absents or 0.5 cm long, leaves bifurcate, split to 2/3 of total length, midrib 10 cm long, green, total leaf length 30 cm, width 5 - 7 cm, emerging leaves reddish, adult leaves dark green; inflorescence infra- or interfoliar, markedly longer than leaves, green, branched to 3rd order, only 2 1st order branches, total inflorescence length 70 cm, prophyl green with reddish-brown scales, flat, spear shaped, 13 cm long in emerging inflorescences; peduncular bracts green to reddish brown, 30 cm long; local name: Sinkiaramboalavo
